‘PACKED TO THE RAFTERS

Australia’s favourite drama, Packed To The Rafters is back after the platinum-selling success of Volume 1, with a second soundtrack filled with new, fresh and memorable tracks from the current series of Packed To The Rafters and will be released on Friday September 18, 2009.
The soundtrack features a fabulous selection of international and local talent, including Lisa Mitchell, Empire Of The Sun, Eric Hutchinson, Sarah Blasko, Bob Evans and introduces US band Latch Key Kid whose feel-good tune, ‘Good Times’ would be familiar to Packed To The Rafters viewers as the song that’s played during the current series promo spots on Seven.
The Producer of Packed To The Rafters, Jo Porter, explains the importance of music, and the role it plays, in the hit series:
One of the real pleasures of working on ‘Packed to The Rafters’ has been the response we have received to the music featured in the first series. It’s been wonderful to get feedback that a fantastic song such as Jason Marz’s ‘I’m Yours’ or Gotye’s ‘Hearts a Mess’ now also reminds people of a favourite moment from our show. So it is with much pride that we introduce this second volume of tracks from series one and two.
Some favourite musical moments included on this CD include the contagious and upbeat Eric Hutchinson’s ‘You Don't Have To Believe Me’ as featured in the somewhat disastrous engagement party; the moving ‘Perfect Now’ by Sarah Blasko with its bitter sweet chords underscoring a sequence of scenes, where relationships begin and seemingly end as well as the yearning vocals of Abby Dobson’s ‘Horses’, which played as Rachel and Jake finally give in to each other.
Recently we have experimented with re-recording tracks exclusively for use on the show and two of these are included on this CD. One of them, King Curly’s re-recording of Leapy Lee’s 1968 hit ‘Little Arrows’ became Ted’s theme song as he negotiated the murky waters of dating and love.
The diverse and instantly familiar tracklisting guarantees this release is a perfect companion for fans of the show and as Jo Porter says “we hope that these songs may not just trigger your favourite moment from the series, but become part of your own life’s soundtrack”:
